What to check before buying in store
Use class (AC): AC3 for bedrooms or low traffic, AC4 for most homes, AC5 or AC6 for busy areas, businesses and communities. Also check thickness, the locking system and the underlay.
How much material to buy
Measure the area and add 5 to 10 % for cuts and waste. With many openings or a diagonal layout the margin rises. If you buy too little, the same reference may change batch or be discontinued. Do not forget the underlay.
What a good installation includes
Checking the subfloor and levelling if needed, laying the underlay, fitting the boards with an expansion gap, finishing with skirting boards and profiles, and cleaning up. The labour price depends on the area, the condition of the base and whether the old floor must be removed, so a prior visit is the most reliable way to price it.
