Floating Floor vs Parquet: Real Differences You Should Know Before Choosing

Floating floor and parquet are not the same thing, even though the two terms are often used interchangeably. We explain the differences in material, installation, price and maintenance.

Professional floating floor, parquet, vinyl and laminate flooring services in Burgos: installation, sanding and varnishing, repair, skirting boards and flooring for staircases and underfloor heating, with careful preparation, material acclimatisation and a written quote.

Material and construction

Floating floor usually refers to laminate or wood-look flooring with an HDF core, while parquet is traditionally solid or engineered wood, often with a thicker real wood surface.

Installation method

Floating floor is almost always a click system installed without glue or nails. Parquet can be click, glued or, in older installations, nailed to the subfloor.

Price and durability

Laminate floating floor is generally cheaper but cannot be sanded. Solid or engineered parquet costs more upfront but can be sanded and refinished several times over its life.
