Standard, water-resistant and SPC: the difference

Standard laminate is a fibreboard with a decorative layer: it copes with occasional splashes but swells if water stays on it or gets in through the joints. SPC is rigid vinyl and is waterproof.

In the kitchen

Yes, if you choose a water-resistant laminate, install it carefully and clean without flooding. In kitchens with leak risk (dishwasher, fridge with water supply) SPC or porcelain tile is better.

In the bathroom

In bathrooms, especially with a shower, SPC vinyl flooring or porcelain tile is more advisable. A laminate, even a water-resistant one, can suffer with constant splashes and steam.
