What a skirting board is for

It hides the expansion gap left between the floor and the wall, and it protects the wall from knocks and mops.

Materials and height

Lacquered white MDF is economical, widely used and easy to paint. Heights of 7 to 10 cm are the most common; taller ones (12 cm or more) give a classic feel and more character, while low, straight ones suit a modern, minimalist style.

How it is fitted

It is fixed to the wall with adhesive or nails, never to the floor, so the floor can expand. Corners are finished with mitre cuts, and the joint with the wall is sealed with silicone or filler if needed.
