Floating Parquet, Vinyl Parquet and Laminate Flooring: Differences and Which to Choose
Floating parquet, vinyl parquet, laminate and wood flooring are easily confused. Here is what each term means, how much it withstands and where to use it.
Professional floating floor, parquet, vinyl and laminate flooring services in Burgos: installation, sanding and varnishing, repair, skirting boards and flooring for staircases and underfloor heating, with careful preparation, material acclimatisation and a written quote.
Floating parquet
A wood parquet, usually engineered, installed without gluing it to the subfloor: it rests on an underlay and is joined with a click system or glued joints. It has a real wood top layer.
Wood flooring (tarima)
The most common term for floors with wider boards, whether solid, engineered or laminate. Solid or engineered wood flooring can be renewed by sanding and varnishing; laminate flooring cannot.
Laminate flooring
There is no solid wood on the surface: it is a printed decorative layer on a fibreboard core, protected by a wear layer. It is the most economical option and is classified by use class AC3, AC4, AC5 or AC6.
Vinyl parquet (SPC)
Vinyl parquet, also called vinyl flooring, is a PVC floor with a wood look. The SPC version has a very stable rigid core and is waterproof, so it can be used in kitchens and bathrooms.
